Matthew Callahan

Biography

Exeter’s transformational experience is something I experienced firsthand, as a graduate of the Academy in 2009. I’m honored to rejoin the Exeter community and work in an admissions office focused on providing an exceptional educational experience to students from all over the country and world. 

After graduating from Exeter, I attended Tufts University, where I was a history major and member of the lacrosse team. Upon graduation, my passion for working with young people led me to a career in collegiate coaching. I spent five years coaching lacrosse at Tufts and Brown University, while completing my master’s degree in education. My desire to return to an independent school led me to the Catholic Memorial School in West Roxbury, MA, where I served as a history teacher, lacrosse coach, and associate director of admissions. 

Living in the beautiful Seacoast area, I’m able to explore my love for the outdoors. In my free time, you can find me kayaking, fishing, golfing, and biking. I’m excited to meet with prospective students and share stories of how Exeter’s mission of non sibi will inspire them to purposeful and meaningful lives upon graduation.
