How to Apply

To inquire about the 2022-2023 school year please follow these steps:

Step 1 – Request information.

To learn more about Exeter, complete the online inquiry form. We’ll send you a viewbook: a close-up on campus life and learning with answers to commonly asked questions.

Step 2 – Begin your application.

Apply online: Our application for 2022-2023 is now available on the Gateway portal.

Application materials: All application materials are due by January 15 and must be submitted via the Gateway portal.

Standardized tests: Exeter will be test optional for applicants for fall 2022. While we encourage students to submit standardized testing as part of their application whenever possible, we recognize that pandemic conditions may make it difficult for some to take a standardized test. As always, admission decisions are made holistically with a full and equal review of all submitted materials.

If you do submit standardized tests, results must be from tests taken no earlier than August of the year preceding the academic start date at Exeter. Please review the list of application materials for information on which tests are accepted at each grade level.

Homeschooling: We welcome applications from home-schooled students. Please use the Gateway portal to submit materials.

Apply for financial aid:  Exeter offers $25 million annually in need-based financial aid. Tuition-free attendance is available for families with incomes below $75,000.

Step 3 – Schedule your admission interview.

We want to know what makes you unique! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we're scheduling online interviews only. Candidates applying for the 2022-2023 school year are eligible to schedule their interview once they have submitted Part 1 of the Gateway to Prep Schools application. Once Part 1 is submitted, candidates will receive an email providing them access to the Exeter Applicant Portal where they will have access to schedule their online interview.
